Nothing Special

May 17th, 2012

I haven’t been anywhere special just doing local stuff like Chilliwack, North Vancouver and Abbottsford.  I have been to Kamloops and back twice however.   Read the rest of this entry »

In-Shuck-Ch Forest Services Road

May 14th, 2012

Took a load of magnesium chloride to a forest service road northwest of Pemberton called In-Shuck-Ch.  Not sure what it stands for but it could mean the road from hell.  I only had to go 44 km but it took me 1 1/2 hours. Read the rest of this entry »

Off to Powell River

May 11th, 2012

Spent a day and a half driving to Powell River up the Sunshine Coast highway or 101 as it is known.  Such a beautiful drive, but very steep hills and sharp corners keep you on your toes.  Read the rest of this entry »

Roberts Bank Coal Dust

May 10th, 2012

Took a load of magnesium chloride to Roberts Bank out by the Tsawassen Ferry Terminal so they could spray it to keep the dust down.  And there was a lot of coal dust let me tell ya.   Read the rest of this entry »

Sunshine Coast

May 9th, 2012

Took a load of Magnesium Chloride to Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast today and the weather was beautiful.  I enjoy going to the Sunshine Coast when I’m under no pressure to get anywhere by a certain time as the drive is really very scenic.  There are stretches of highway that follows the beach where you can view the ocean and Vancouver Island with all its glory.  Even the ferry ride over to Langdale from Horseshoe Bay is a scenic one and only takes 40 minutes. Well all good things must come to an end and as such it’s back to work for me.  Five months off is probably too much anyways so I guess I should suck it up and get at er.  Read the rest of this entry »

Time is a Flyin..

February 20th, 2012

Wow here it is already in February 2012 and my time off is almost over.  Sorry I didn’t post in September, November etc., but I had other things on my mind.  September was a fairly busy month considering I didn’t think I was going to get any work because of the weather. Mostly hauling asphalt to Bamberton on Vancouver Island.  Had a spill when the attendant accidently hit the reverse switch and the asphalt started over flowing my tank and onto the ground.  What a mess and it took eight hours to clean up.  Read the rest of this entry »

Still Going….

August 7th, 2011

Well finally I’m busy enough to keep me happy.  Been running pretty good after I complained about not enough work.  Been up to Gold Bridge, BC a couple more times and went to Canim Lake once.  Just love the Gold Bridge country, right out of a western movie if you ask me.  Driving in the lower mainland this past week has been a nightmare with nothing but accidents on the freeway every day and night.  Hard not to get caught up in the road rage syndrome.  Glad when I get out of the area and start driving north so I can relax and focus on the job at hand.  Read the rest of this entry »

The Road To Gold Bridge BC

July 31st, 2011

Took a load of magnesium chloride to the community of Gold Bridge west of Lillooet, BC.  Took me about 7 hours from Coquitlam to get there.  The weather was nice and hot as it always is in that neck of the woods.  Truck ran great and everything went smoothly until I got to Gold Bridge then I drove past the turn off because of poor directions given to me by my dispatch (what else is new).  Ended up climbing up a steep hill about 18-20% in grade and had to turn around (no small feat) and head back down with 42 tons of weight.  Took me a lot longer to get down then go up let me tell you.  Read the rest of this entry »

Finally a Long Haul

July 12th, 2011

Finally got to go on a long haul trip to northwestern BC to a place called Meziadin Junction.  Had to deliver a load of emulsion to the Bell bridge 32km east of the junction.  The weather on the way up was good, different story on the way home however.  Along the way I saw some moose, deer, black bear and one skunk.  After arriving I jumped out to talk to the spray truck that was working on the chip seal crew and was immediatly surrounded by millions of deer flies.  Read the rest of this entry »
